Monte Alem is a converted typical portuguese farmhouse or Quinta, set in the beautiful unspoilt hills of the Eastern Algarve, 12 Kms behind Santa Catarina with stunning views of the hills and the sea down towards the lovely seaside river town of Tavira. The house is set entirely on its own hill in a tranquil and peaceful setting, the area around the house is covered with eucalyptus,olive,citrus,and cork trees, and is green all year round even in the hottest of summers. The garden has a number of lovely terraces to afford sun or shade as required, alfresco dining is either on the main terrace by the bbq and pool or under our large cork tree.

This area of the Algarve is widely regarded as one of the most unspoilt and beautiful areas of the Algarve. Very little developement has occurred unlike much of the central Algarve.
The area for miles around the house is a designated conservation area of outstanding natural beauty. The beaches of Tavira Island which can be reached easily from the house are also unspoilt (and uncrowded even in summer!) where there are lagoon beaches as well as the ocean side.
