Alora is situated approximately 25 miles inland from Malaga airport and is steeped in history. Alora consists of a series of steep slopes and spreads over a neighbouring hill on which an old Moorish Castle stands. The whitewashed streets converge on a square on the lowest part, over which a church towers. From there it is possible, on foot or by car, to get to Alora Castle and the cemetary of Alora from there is a splendid panorama of the Guadalhorce river basin. One of the main attractions of this property is its superb location as it is within walking distance of local bars, restaurants, chemist and a couple of local supermarkets. The restaurants offer good quality dining at reasonable prices. The property not only overlooks the whitewashed town of Alora and its castle but also the very green Guadalhorce valley with its orange and lemon groves There are bus stops within walking distance with regular services to Malaga, Alora, and local villages. Alora train station is only half a mile from the property with regular and reliable services to Malaga, and connections to Malaga Airport, Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Fuengirola. For those looking for a bargain why not hop on the train to Pizarra or Cartama where you will find a street market each week with stalls selling fresh local produce and numerous other stalls. Whilst a car would obviously be convenient it is not essential as this property is very convenient for bus and train services and local amenities. Alora is a good base and ideally situated to visit many other inland parts of Spain (that is if you ever want to leave this gorgeous property!) including Ronda, Granada, El Chorro and the beautiful village of Mijas which attracts many visitors. Mijas is definitely not to be missed and can be reached, even if you do not hire a car, by catching the train to Fuengirola and from there the local bus to Mijas this would certainly make a day to remember. Transportation to and from Malaga airport can be arranged on request. Most of the budget airlines offer cheap flights to Malaga on a daily basis try - bmibaby - flybe - gbairways - jet2 - flymonarch - thomsonfly and easyjet.
