More information on Protaras

Penera is located between Protaras and Ayia Triada, Kapparis and Paralimni.

Between penera and protaras there is a small water park.
Penera has several bars, restaurants, shops, bakeries and banks. It is similar to protaras but on a slightly smaller scale. There are several beautiful sandy beaches with turquoise seas, and a newly refurbished harbour at the goldencoast hotel.

A short 20 min stroll will bring you in to protaras centre with an abundance of shops restaurants, karaoke bars, theme bars, dancing waters shows, all with different cuisines from all over the world. Here you will also find many watersports, fishing, boat trips, horse riding, cycling.

On the way to protaras you will see the church on the hill St Elias, which is reached via 100 steps with tremendous views at the top. At the bottom is a café we can highly recommend for their bacon sandwiches!!! Protaras is also reknown for the famous Fig tree bay, and golden sands.

From Protaras by car taxi or bus Ayia napa is approx 10 mins drive away/7km where you will find plenty of nightlife for all ages, a bungee jump, fair, water park, nissi beach, shops galore.

Protaras is approx 60 km from larnaca airport [ 45 mins by road] along the motorway heading for paralimni.

In some areas near kapparis, and paralimni you will see ‘look out’ cafes across to the ghost town of Famagusta, now occupied by the turks who invaded in 1974.

You can also take a boat trip to the UN buffer zone and see Famagusta in the distance. We can highly recommend Captain Marko’s boat trip.
