French holiday home in Normandy in the quiet village of Saint Denis le Thiboult. The owners have lovingly restored this thatched cottage and have been renting it out for 5 years. The thatched cottage is one of the oldest buildings in the village and was probably the original farmhouse. Upstairs there are three bedrooms (two with two single beds and one with a double bed) and a bathroom with toilet. A child's cot is also available. Downstairs there is an entrance hall, a large sitting room with an open fireplace, a cloakroom with toilet, and a large kitchen / dining room (electric stove, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave). The quiet village of Saint Denis le Thiboult is situated 20km east of Rouen, 1 hour 15 minutes drive, from Paris, 2 hours 30 mins from Calais and 45 minutes drive from the sea. The village is surrounded by wooded hills with a number of footpaths and bridlepaths. A trout stream, 'the Crevon', runs through the 1 ¼ acre garden. All the shops you need are one mile away in Ry, the village upon which Flaubert based the novel 'Madame Bovary'. There are a number of ‘chateaux’ and gardens to visit in the area (e.g. Martainville, Mortemer, Champs la Bataille, Vascoeuil, Jardin Plume, Bosmolet, Vandrimare, Jardin d’Angelique). As in all regions of France, there are a number of great places to eat at reasonable prices.
